Adult Education
Christian education is not just for children and youth. It is a lifelong process of growing in faith. At Overbrook, we offer a number of different opportunities for adults to explore the Christian faith in depth, and to work out the meaning of our faith in today’s world.
Adult Forum
Adult Forum meets in the Chapel from 9:15 to 10:15 AM each Sunday morning during the school year, and provides a forum for study and lively discussion of the Bible, theology, ethics, and contemporary issues. This is generally led by laypeople, though occasionally guest presenters from nearby seminaries or colleges are invited to join us and share with us about their area of study. Childcare is available in the Nursery during Adult Forum.
Bible Study
A weekly Bible Study group meets each Wednesday morning in the Williamson Room, from 10:00 to 11:30 AM. Usually led by the Pastor, Parish Associate, or Director of Christian Education, this study explores the lectionary texts for the upcoming Sunday, though sometimes focuses on a particular book of the Bible or biblical theme. It offers a discussion-based format where all people can contribute and learn from each other.
Other Opportunities
Occasionally, other programs and events are offered for adults. These include lectures, retreats, workshops, book clubs, film discussions, museum tours, and short-term study groups.
