THE OVERBROOK CHOIR

The Overbrook Choir, directed by Dennis Elwell, is a college age/adult singing choir which blends professional and volunteer amateur singers. It singes regularly in Sunday and seasonal Worship Services, as well as at concerts and special occasions each year. The choir which has performed many large and small oratorios and cantatas with orchestras and chamber ensembles, is celebrating its 40th anniversary as a regular weekly ensemble in 2005. In 1999 it performed at the Advent-Sing in Vienna, Austria.

There are no auditions for choir membership, just the desire and expectation of a commitment to enjoy a wonderful community which shares in exciting music-making, worship leadership, and great friendship. The Overbrook Choir rehearses on Thursday evening, September to May, from 8:00-9:30 p.m. in the Choral Room on the first floor.

THE OVERBROOK JUNIOR CHOIR

The Overbrook Junior Choir, directed by Margene Biedermann, with Liz Shawl, accompanist, is a singing choir for children ages 7-12, which sings approximately once a month in worship, and at seasonal worship opportunities. Often at the conclusion of each season, the choir presents and stages a children's cantata in worship. The emphasis of the choir, however, is much more than singing or performing, but a growth experience that blends an understanding of the Bible, the history of the church and its music, multiculturalism in the 21st century, and fun times which are so important to kids.

Rehearsals for the Junior Choir are on Sunday morning from 9:30-10:15 a.m. in the Choral Room on the first floor from September to May. Parents are invited and encouraged to speak with Mrs. Biedermann regarding membership for their child in the choir.

THE OVERBROOK WESTMINSTER HANDBELL CHOIR

The Overbrook Westminster Handbell Choir, directed by Dennis Elwell, is a teenage/adult ringing choir, which rings approximately once a month in worship, and at seasonal worship services. Formed in 1972, the choir of approximately 12-14 members rings four octaves of Schulmerich handbells. A basic music reading ability is helpful for choir membership, though there are no auditions to ring in the choir. Rehearsals are on Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. in the Bell Room on the second floor from September to May, and begin with a time of fellowship and refreshments.
