"Then shall the trees of the wood sing for joy... " - Psalm 96:126

The land upon which the church was built was purchased from the John M. George Estate, part of William Penn's Liberty Lands. Most of the remainder of the George Farm became Overbrook Farms, a Drexel and Company real estate development. Both the architect and builder of the tower were active in the development of Overbrook Farms.

Exterior changes include removal of a porte cochere on the Lancaster Avenue side of the building with the widening of Lancaster Avenue in 1934-36. Also, a manse was torn down and carriage sheds removed to make way for the large parking lot.

The church, a landmark at the corner of Lancaster Avenue and City Avenue, continues its witness to Jesus Christ.
